WHAT IS ACCESS?

Under the Equality Act 2010, access means providing Disabled people with the same opportunities to use services, goods, and facilities as non-Disabled people, ensuring they are not placed at a substantial disadvantage. This involves removing physical barriers, altering policies, and providing auxiliary aids

WHO IS DISABLED?

Under the Equality Act 2010, a person is disabled if they have a physical or mental impairment that has a ‘substantial’ and ‘long-term’ negative effect on their ability to do normal day-to-day activities. 'Substantial' means more than minor or trivial, while 'long-term' generally means lasting 12 months or more.
