Being a Councillor

Being a Councillor: Presentation and Q&A

Tuesday 30th January, 7.30pm to 9pm; Round Chapel Old School Rooms, Clapton

Just over 18 months ago, Hackney Green Party were lucky enough to get the wonderful Alastair Binnie-Lubbock and Zoë Garbett elected to Hackney Council. Since then, they've had rave reviews from residents, key policy wins on the council, and have continuously campaigned on issues related to Green values. But they need help! That's why we're looking for our next group of potential councillors to get involved as part of the Green team to show the people of Hackney the impact Green on the Council can have.

This in-person meeting will be an information session from the Councillors and the Elections team and aims to cover questions such as:

  • What's it like in the daily life of a councillor?
  • What happens at a council meeting?
  • What issues do you get involved with?
  • How could I best support our councillors?
  • How do I get selected to be a councillor candidate?

The session will be informal and be a fantastic opportunity to ask any questions you have and learn more about the selection process. There is no obligation to put yourself forward having attended the event and we encourage everyone for supports our values to attend.

Hope to see you there,

Your Hackney Green Team.
