Writing "literature" is one of the most important ways to cut through the noise - and win votes. We use newsletters to "report back" to residents, showing examples of how we have listened to them on the door-step and turned their ideas and needs into campaigns and actions. Newsletters are also a way of championing Green wins to give them due attention in a Labour-dominated council.
We deliver newsletters to thousands of residents across Hackney. It is vital for candidates, Ward Co-ordinators and Literature co-ordinators to understand the art of writing informative and action-focussed newsletters.
At this training event, two of our most experienced newsletter writers, journalists Samir Jeraj and James Manning run through the "musts" and "must nots" of newsletter writing. They will teach you everything you need from start to finish - including their top tips learned over many years. You will come away from the event with an improved confidence in newsletter writing. There will be an opportunity to ask questions. It is expected that the event will last about one hour but an additional half hour has been allocated on the virtual meeting (if needed), to make sure that everybody's questions are answered.
