July Policy and Ideas - Refugees and Migration

Our regular monthly Policy and Ideas meetings are an opportunity for members to contribute to and discuss local party strategy and to understand and inform policies.

Each month we will select a topic to give each one enough space to have a detailed discussion and to make real progress.

This month we are taking a break from local policy discussion to look at the wider issue of Refugee and Migration and have talks on the following topics

Refugees at Home
Refugees at Home has helped thousands of refugees and asylum seekers to avoid destitution and homelessness. They match guests with generous hosts who would like to offer a safe, welcoming place to stay, for the length of time that they can manage.

The Unity Project and NRPF
The no recourse to public funds (NRPF) policy exacerbates poverty, inequality and discrimination and should end. While it continues and as part of our work to end it, The Unity Project supports people to remove the NRPF condition from their leave to remain.

Asylum and Migration Policy Working Group
The Green Party have a policy group on Asylum and Migration policy, hear about their work and how to contribute.

Benali Hamdache, Migrant and refugee support spokesperson for the Green Party
Hear from Benali about the campaigns that he is working on and how you can help

It will be a lively and friendly discussion, open to all members with new members being particularly welcome.

All members are reminded of the Safeguarding Commitment and Code of Conduct which they agreed to upon joining the party.
