Dalston councillor Zoë Garbett is running to be the first Green Mayor of Hackney, in a by-election triggered by the resignation of former Labour Mayor Philip Glanville. In the 2022 Mayoral election, Zoë ran and finished second, ahead of the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats.

With Green councillors now established as the real opposition to the Labour administration, Zoë has a real chance of success this time. Residents are feeling let down by the Labour party and former Mayor's actions in the events that triggered this by-election, and are looking for change.

But we need your support to make that change a reality. Running a successful election campaign costs money, and the unexpected nature of this by-election means we have not yet built up the funds that we need.

WHAT ARE OUR KEY COSTS?

Our dedicated volunteers will be out several times a week speaking to voters on the doorstep. But the only way to ensure our message reaches all residents is through high-quality literature, which costs money to print. This includes things like:

  • Newsletters
  • Posters
  • Letters from candidates
  • Polling day flyers
  • Election information booklets

We may also use your donation to pay for targeted social media advertising.

As a volunteer-run local party, whose income comes from individual donations instead of corporate backers, we need all of the support possible to get our message out to the people of Hackney. Every donation makes a difference.

Your details as a donor will not be made public. However, as required by law, we will report donations worth over £1,500, or donations from any impermissible source, to the Electoral Commission.
