Soraya Adejare

Soraya Adejare grew up in Hackney and has served as a councillor for 12 years, most recently in Brownswood, the area where she was raised. As a trained teacher and social worker, she understands the challenges many residents face and the difference inclusive politics can make. Soraya believes boroughs like Hackney must be given the powers and resources they need to meet local needs properly. Her priorities include upholding leaseholders’ rights, tackling violence against women and girls, maximising council housing, and addressing the social care funding crisis.
Soraya says, “Amid ongoing cuts to council budgets, the Green Party’s approach to local government is progressive and focused on meeting the needs of all residents.”
