Izzy Castello-Cortes

Izzy brings a background in campaigning on human rights issues and running community initiatives, developed through six years with Amnesty International. Working in healthcare during Covid spurred on her commitment to healthcare, social care and safe housing. After most recently working in infrastructure financing, Izzy is determined to ensure developments in Hackney benefit local residents rather than isolate communities, drive up rents, and line external investors’ pockets.
Izzy says, “Living and working in Hackney, I love this community and am committed to standing up for my ward. No one should feel left behind by their council.”
Pascale Frazer-Carroll

Pascale has lived around Hackney Central for nearly a decade, with family ties to the borough dating back to the 1950s when her grandmother settled here from Antigua. Now a new mother, she understands the challenges of raising a young family in Hackney and is committed to ensuring it’s a place where the diverse communities that call it home, can stay and thrive.
With 12 years’ experience in campaigning and policy research, Pascale has worked on issues that span human rights, social and environmental justice, and tackling inequality. She previously served as a director at a social change organisation, supporting people often excluded from decision-making to influence politics. She led a team that helped people secure campaign wins for their communities, from protecting social housing to improving mental health provision for young people. Pascale is driven to bring this experience into local government, putting residents’ voices at the centre of decision-making.
“What I love about Hackney Central, and makes it so special, is the beautiful mix of people that call it home. But increasingly too many feel pushed out. As councillor I would fight for an affordable Hackney, and one where everyone’s voices are valued. I believe we can build a borough that puts people and planet before profit.”
