Your candidates in King's Park

Emmanuel Onapa

Emmanuel is an award-winning multimedia journalist, community researcher, former student of B-Six college and University of Exeter graduate. He is a trustee director for the Hackney-based Alliance for Youth Justice, a charity fighting for the safety of young people in the criminal justice system, and external affairs and campaigns manager for Account in Hackney, a community-based organisation with a mission to contest power and challenge injustice through the exploration of culture, society and politics.

Emmanuel says, “I want to see a world where young people are safe, respected, and powerful. In Hackney, justice should not just be an ideal, but a lived reality for everyone”.

Jasmine O'Connor

Jasmine is an impactful human rights and community worker. She has served on the ground and in leadership roles, working with several prominent charities, the UK Foreign Office, and as an adviser to the UN. In 2018, she became CEO of Anti-Slavery International, championing efforts to tackle human trafficking and modern slavery. In 2025 she became Co-CEO of Galop, overseeing frontline services to support LGBTQ+ survivors of domestic abuse, hate crime, and sexual violence.

A longstanding local resident, Jasmine is passionate about Hackney, saying, “I want a council that puts people at heart of every decision, here in King’s Park and across Hackney”.

Abi Kingston

Abi combines work as a therapist with a long career in community housing in Hackney. In the pandemic, she ran the Round Chapel Old School Rooms’ emergency response. She now works supporting survivors of domestic abuse – and she helps renters with housing and repairs, challenging decisions and getting answers. She says, ‘I started twenty-plus years ago, and I’ve remained on the front-line, helping hundreds and hundreds of people get the help they need and move on with their lives. I want a council that listens and works for absolutely everyone. That will be my priority as Green councillor for King’s Park.’
