This event is open to members of the Hackney Green Party only.
We invite members to an Extraordinary General Meeting to approve a new constitution.
A lot has changed since our current constitution was adopted in June 2022. Back then Hackney Greens had just celebrated electing our first two councillors. Today, we’re proud to have 42 Green councillors, a Green Mayor and a membership that has grown fivefold. As our movement grows, it’s important that the way we organise and govern ourselves grows with it.
Over the summer, the Executive Committee has been looking carefully at how we can make Hackney Green Party ready for the opportunities and challenges ahead. The proposed new constitution is designed to support the next stage of our journey and give us a strong foundation for the future.
Before the meeting, members will receive an email with:
- - The motion to adopt the new constitution
- - A summary of the key changes
- - A copy of the current constitution
- - A copy of the proposed new constitution.
All of this information will give you plenty of opportunity to review the proposals before we meet.
At the EGM, we’ll give a short presentation outlining the proposed changes, followed by time for questions and answers. We’ll also open up a conversation about the future structure and roles that form the Executive Committee.
The EGM is an important step towards our Annual General Meeting, currently planned for Sunday 29th November (subject to confirmation). The AGM will be an opportunity to look back on everything we’ve achieve over the past year, elect officers for the coming year, and discuss our vision for what comes next for Green politics in Hackney.
We hope you’ll join us and be part of this exciting new chapter for Hackney Greens.
We look forward to seeing you there.
Hazel, Liberty and George,
Party Co-Co-ordinators.
Accessibility: The venue is accessible. If you’re unable to attend in person, we’re planning for the meeting to held in a hybrid format and will share Zoom details in reminder messages nearer the time.
All members are reminded of the Safeguarding Commitment and Code of Conduct which they agreed to upon joining the party.
If you are under 18 and would like to attend this event, please ask a parent or guardian to contact the organiser (details below) and sign a consent form.
